In this unit you will learn about the following topics:
• The principal features of working safely in the laser or IPL Treatment Controlled  Area.
• The principal equipment related hazards when using lasers and intense light sources.
• How the human aversion responses help to keep laser and intense light outputs below Maximum Permissible Exposure (MPE) levels set in manufacturing standards.
• The requirements manufacturers have to follow to keep exposure to laser and intense light below the Accessible Emission Level (AEL) permitted in standards.
• The Nominal Hazard Zone and the Nominal Optical Hazard Distance.
• The principal laser/IPL-related adverse ocular effects on skin
• The principles of risk assessment, quality assurance and safety management.
