61th Annual Clinical Diabetes and Endocrinology Institute Snowmass 2026

This live activity will provide educational content, clinical cases and practical strategies to increase learners' knowledge base regarding assessment and treatment of patients with endocrine and/or metabolic disorders. Patient-centered team-based care, interprofessional communication, and roles/responsibilities of multidisciplinary teams providing endocrine/metabolic care will also be discussed as these relate to care of patients with endocrine and/or metabolic disorders.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for an audience of physicians, Nurses, Physicians Assistants, Pharmacist and Nurse Practitioners.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain the use of incretins in diabetes and in obesity.

  • Apply evidence to design appropriate management plans for menopause.

  • Demonstrate how to personalize management of toxic thyroid nodules.

  • Communicate the overarching paradigm of what is known about the gut microbiome in obesity and in diabetes.

  • Describe relevant changes in the guidelines for thyroid nodule evaluation and management.

  • Discuss the use of newer medications in the treatment for elevated lipoprotein(a) and other lipoprotein metabolism disorders.

  • Integrate information from challenging bone cases into clinical practice.

  • Implement sequential therapy of osteoporosis medications according to available evidence.

  • Debate the pros and cons of GLP1-based therapies in the management of diabetes.

  • Explain the evaluation and management of polycystic ovary syndrome across the lifespan.

  • Demonstrate the use and interpretation of diabetes technology in type 1 diabetes.

  • Implement therapeutics for diabetes in pregnancy.

  • Communicate advances in pathophysiology and management of congenital adrenal hyperplasia.

  • Discuss challenges in contemporary diabetes management.

  • Identify potential situations in which androgen doping should be suspected.

  • Describe practical strategies for managing obesity.

  • Explain approaches to management of endocrine complications of oncologic therapy.

  • Review the evidence for inpatient use of zoledronic acid and Fracture Liaison Services.

  • Discuss the differential diagnosis and treatment implications for hyperprolactinemia.

  • Explain contemporary approaches to metabolic bone disease and use of imaging.

  • Integrate key information from thyroid cases into clinical practice.

  • Determine optimal treatment strategies in premenopausal osteoporosis.

  • Explain gaps in current guidelines for evaluation and management of thyroid and parathyroid disorders in pregnancy.

  • Discuss the use of artificial intelligence and genetic risk to improve thyroid cancer diagnosis.

  • Employ cardiovascular imaging to stratify cardiovascular risk and determine optimal lipid management.
