Oncology Massage

This specialized course is designed for healthcare and rehab professionals who wish to provide safe, supportive massage therapy to individuals living with cancer. Led by Maureen Abson, LMT—an experienced educator in therapeutic massage—this training addresses the unique challenges and considerations of oncology care.

Participants will learn how cancer and its treatments affect body systems and how to modify massage techniques accordingly. The course emphasizes the importance of gentle,

non-invasive touch and teaches methods for working safely with medically fragile clients. Topics covered include treatment side effects, immune system considerations, surgical interventions, and emotional trauma related to diagnosis and treatment.

You’ll receive step-by-step guidance on assessment, positioning, and adapting pressure while building your confidence to support clients undergoing chemotherapy, radiation, and surgery, or those in remission or palliative care. Oncology massage is not just about technique—it’s about presence, compassion, and creating a safe space for healing.
