Patricia Kane, PhD

PATRICIA C. KANE, PH.D.
Dr. Patricia Kane’s dedication and success in lipid research to support patients’ with fragile brain architecture has brought her widespread recognition in the field of biometabolic intervention by blending lipid bench science, medical lipid research with clinical medicine by which she coined the term Membrane Precision Medicine. Her expertise in boldly addressing neurological disorders and lipid disturbance with targeted nutritional intervention with bioactive lipids and phospholipids for neurological disorders has led to direct biometabolic application utilized by physicians and researchers worldwide. Dr. Kane’s clinical experience, working with physicians, spans 50 years. Dr. Kane has pioneered targeted metabolic application of the red cell fatty acid analysis from a university-based laboratory over the past 29 years and has expanded into phospholipid analysis for both pediatric and adult populations with research relating to acute as well as chronic conditions. Present research studies include examination of red cell lipid aberrations, phospholipids, ceramides/ lipid rafts, and deformation in the phospholipid membranes in Autism, ALS and Alzheimer’s, epigenetic and various inherited diseases. Research treatment protocols include targeted lipid therapy with lipid mediators phenylbutyrate, phosphatidylcholine, phosphatidylethanolamine, phosphatidylinositol, methyl agents (methylcobalamin, L-methylfolate), bioactive lipids and a membrane stabilizing (nutrient dense with bioactive lipids) diet directed towards stabilization of cellular, organelle and myelin architecture to normalize organelle function to resolve the accumulation aberrant proteins and lipids characteristic in neurological and orphan diseases. Dr. Kane is an accomplished lecturer as well as author, presenting to medical societies and universities annually in the US and abroad. In addition, with a consortium of physicians and Cellular Health Foundation, 501c3, she conducts
a 3-day biomedical course for physicians on Membrane Precision Medicine emphasizing targeted lipid therapy and nutritional biochemistry from a cell membrane stabilizing perspective with neurological application several times annually in the US and abroad. She has presented her work to the NIH, Columbia, Johns Hopkins, University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, University of Kansas, UMDNJ, Eidgenossische Technische (the MIT of Europe), Lipid Mediators in Health and Disease II Symposium, the Royal Medical Society, EuroFed Lipid Congress, Cardiolipin/Barth Syndrome conference, ISSFAL and NORD (Orphan Disease). Dr. Kane’s innovative work has opened the doors of San Diego Children’s Hospital, Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia, The Cleveland Clinic, Boston Children’s Hospital, Kennedy Krieger Institute, Columbia, UMDNJ, Mt. Sinai, Cornell, Harvard (2024) and the NIH (2025) to neurometabolic lipid pharmacology and Membrane Precision Medicine. Dr. Kane has presented at Grand Rounds at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital Integrative Center and Morristown Atlantic Care Hospital in New Jersey, and to the prestigious Lipid Mediators in Health and Disease organization and the New Jersey Institute for Food, Nutrition & Health.
