Originally from the Twin Cities area of Minnesota, Tyler completed medical school at Creighton University School of Medicine in Omaha, Nebraska. He went on to matriculate into the general surgery residency program at the University of Rochester Medical Center in New York. He is currently in his first year of research at the University of Rochester, during which he is focusing on outcomes-based investigations in thoracic surgery and oncology.
