Kelly McCoy Gross, RN

I have been working as a clinical research nurse coordinator with the Miller Lab and ALS Center at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri since August of 2019. In my current role, my focus has been exclusively working with ALS patients and participating in ALS research. I have been involved in nearly all aspects of our ALS trials including recruitment, training, scheduling and conducting research visits, and data entry and management. I regularly communicate with the primary- and sub-investigators, participants, study monitors, regulatory personnel, and study sponsors.
In a clinical role, I attend our ALS multi-disciplinary clinic and general neuromuscle clinic. I primarily provide patient and family education, and assist with procedures such as pulmonary function testing. I work with ALS patients and families to assess their needs and goals of care and to guide them to the most appropriate research trials. I also serve as a trainer and mentor to new ALS center staff and research coordinators. My clinical focus as a registered nurse prior to coming to Washington University was primarily in the field of hospice and palliative medicine. I have a passion for providing life-affirming care to terminally ill patients.
