Jaclyn Kovach, MD, FASRS

An internationally-recognized leader in the field of retina, Dr. Kovach is an accomplished clinician, researcher, and educator who has published over 100 book chapters and peer-reviewed articles and has presented her impactful research on the genetics of age-related macular degeneration and retinal imaging in over 150 lectures around the world. Professor Kovach is the founder of a clinical trial center, a medical retinal fellowship, and a retina case conference. A role model and influential mentor, she created Luminaries: Profiles of Women in Academic Medicine, a book of autobiographic vignettes written by 24 colleagues to inspire the next generation of women physician/scientists. She is the recipient of numerous awards including a Castle Connolly Exceptional Women in Medicine Award, America’s Most Honored Doctors, the Ophthalmologist Power List, an American Academy of Ophthalmology (AAO) Achievement Award, and a Senior Honor Award from the American Society of Retina Specialists (ASRS). She is an active member of the Retina Society, the Macula Society, and has served on a multitude of national committees, currently holding leadership positions at the AAO, ASRS, and the American Board of Ophthalmology.
