Carol Antequera-Sanchez, MMS, DMSc, PA-C is a distinguished Physician Assistant specializing in gastroenterology, with over a decade of clinical experience. She earned her Master of Medical Science in Physician Assistant Studies from Nova Southeastern University in 2010 and a Doctor of Medical Science from the University of Lynchburg in 2021. Carol currently practices at the University of Miami, where she focuses on gastrointestinal motility and functional bowel disorders.

Since 2022, Carol has served as Chair of the Advanced Practice Provider Council at the University of Miami. In 2023, she was promoted to Supervisor of Advanced Practice for the Division of Digestive Health and Liver Diseases, where she oversees a growing team of 10 APPs. She has been instrumental in developing interdisciplinary care models that elevate the role of PAs in managing complex GI conditions, while also spearheading initiatives in onboarding, mentorship, and APP education.

A respected national voice, Carol is a member of the American Gastroenterological Association (AGA) Task Force for APPs and serves on the American College of Gastroenterology (ACG) APP Committee. She served as Co- Chair of the Gastroenterology and Hepatology Advanced Practice Provider (GHAPP) Member Engagement Committee from 2021-2023 then completed tenure as Chair from 2023- 2025. She was then elected to serve on the GHAPP Board of Trustees as of 2025.

In 2024, she received both the inaugural PA of the Year Award and the ACG APP Scholarship Award. She represented Florida at the 2025 House of Delegates during the American Academy of Physician Associates (AAPA) Annual Conference, contributing to the development and submission of formal resolutions and participating in open reference committee hearings.

When she is not at work, she making memories with her three energetic boys who keep her on her toes!
