Michael Geisler, PharmD, BCPS
Dr. Michael Geisler earned his Doctor of Pharmacy degree in 2011 and completed a Post-Graduate Year One (PGY-1) pharmacy residency at the Richard L. Roudebush Veterans Affairs Medical Center in Indianapolis, Indiana, in 2012. Following his residency, he joined Belleville Memorial Hospital as a hospital pharmacist, where he played a key role in establishing the foundation of the clinical pharmacy program.
In 2014, Dr. Geisler helped secure approval for a full-time antimicrobial stewardship pharmacist position and has since been instrumental in implementing and expanding antimicrobial stewardship services. During this time he has served as co-lead of the BJC System Anti-Infective Committee and remains an active member of various infectious diseases and antimicrobial stewardship committees.
As the coordinator of the Antimicrobial Stewardship Program at Memorial Belleville-Shiloh, Dr. Geisler has co-led the program to earn the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH) Antimicrobial Stewardship Honor Roll Gold Tier status, along with the Collaboration Distinction award. His work spans both acute care and long-term care settings, and he serves as a subject matter expert for IDPH’s PALASE (Partnering Acute and Long-Term Care to Advance Stewardship Efforts) initiatives, advancing antimicrobial stewardship across the state.
Dr. Geisler’s aspires to stay committed to optimizing antimicrobial use and improving patient outcomes across all healthcare settings and practices.
