Dr. Shawn G. Kwatra is the Joseph W. Burnett Endowed Professor and Chairman of Dermatology at the University of Maryland School of Medicine in Baltimore, MD. An internationally recognized leader in chronic itch, inflammatory skin diseases, and skin of color research, Dr. Kwatra specializes in chronic pruritus, prurigo nodularis, atopic dermatitis, and dermatology for ethnic skin. He directs a basic and translational research laboratory as well as a clinical trials unit, with research supported by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and multiple foundations. Dr. Kwatra has authored or co-authored over 250 peer-reviewed publications, contributing significantly to the understanding and treatment of chronic pruritus.
