Sharon Batista, MD

Dr. Sharon Batista, MD, is a board-certified psychiatrist in private practice and Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai. She completed her medical training and residency at Mount Sinai Hospital, followed by a fellowship in Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry at NYU. Dr. Batista is a Distinguished Fellow of the American Psychiatric Association, a Fellow of the American Medical Women’s Association, and a Fellow of the Academy of Consultation-Liaison Psychiatry.
Dr. Batista specializes in OCD and anxiety disorders, women’s and reproductive mental health, multicultural psychiatry, and telepsychiatry. She provides evidence-based care using CBT, psychodynamic psychotherapy, and exposure and response prevention (ERP). Her clinical work spans the lifespan, with particular focus on perinatal mental health, menopause, hoarding, perfectionism, and caregiver support. She is affirming of all races, ethnicities, gender identities, and sexual orientations, and is committed to culturally responsive, inclusive care.
She has published in the field of HIV psychiatry, co-authoring the Handbook of AIDS Psychiatry and contributing to the Comprehensive Textbook of AIDS Psychiatry. Dr. Batista is a psychiatric advisor for NOCD, a national telehealth company specializing in OCD, and a Doximity Digital Health Fellow (2021–present). She has been recognized as a Castle Connolly Top Doctor in recent years.
