Sanjeev Bhavnani, MD, FACC, is a cardiologist, digital health and AI clinical trialist at Scripps Clinic and a former Senior Medical Officer at the FDA’s Digital Health Center of Excellence. A Qualcomm Wireless Health Scholar, he has led more than 100 digital health and AI programs spanning concept through clinical deployment, helping partner companies raise more than $600 million in venture and strategic investment.  Dr. Bhavnani has secured eight FDA authorizations across smartphone-based diagnostics, wearable sensors, and AI software as a medical device. He is principal investigator of multifunction AI development trial in cardiovascular medicine enrolling more than 12,000 patients, and has designed smartphone-clinics in low and middle income countries.  Dr. Bhavnani developed some of the first large-scale remote monitoring programs and implementation frameworks describing how AI can be safely integrated into patient care. He previously served as Chair of Innovation for the American College of Cardiology’s strategy on digital transformation. At the FDA, he led medical policy initiatives for digital health technologies and AI in regulatory trials, real-world evidence generation, and AI-enabled drug development, bringing clinical, and commercialization expertise to emerging health technology companies.
