Ankur Gupta, MD PhD

Ankur Gupta, MD, PhD, is a nationally renowned interventional cardiologist recognized for his expertise in complex coronary interventions, including complex high-risk indicated percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI), chronic total occlusion (CTO) interventions, and mechanical circulatory support. Dr. Gupta also possesses specialized expertise in women’s heart health, focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of coronary microvascular disease and vasospastic angina. He is frequently invited to national and international meetings for lectures, podium discussions, and moderation, as well as to conduct live educational cases. Dr. Gupta serves as a proctor for advanced devices and technology in interventional cardiology, including intracoronary lithotripsy, coronary optical coherence tomography, and the CoroFlow Cardiovascular System.
Dr. Gupta holds a PhD in computational fluid dynamics and has conducted extensive research on coronary flows at Harvard University. He has authored numerous high-impact publications, including first- or senior-author contributions in JAMA Cardiology, Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC), Circulation, and the Journal of the Society for Cardiovascular Angiography and Interventions, among others. Currently, Dr. Gupta serves as principal investigator and sub-investigator on several clinical trials in interventional cardiology. At Banner University Medical Center Phoenix, he will serve as Director of Community Interventional Cardiology for the Banner Cardiovascular Service Line and Associate Director of the Interventional Cardiology Fellowship Program, playing a pivotal role in training and mentoring cardiology and interventional cardiology fellows.
