Peter Scal is a faculty member in the Department of Pediatrics at the University of Minnesota, where he provides clinical care through community-based organizations including LEAP Pediatrics and Adolescent Care and the Hubert H. Humphrey JobCorps. His work focuses on engaging young adults in health-promotion activities that foster autonomous motivation and holistic wellbeing. By integrating the six pillars of lifestyle medicine—nutrition, physical activity, stress management, social connection, sleep, and the avoidance of risky substances—Dr. Scal, in collaboration with Dr. Julia Joseph-Di Caprio, aims to bridge the gap between healthcare access and vocational success for underserved youth. At the 2026 LTTL Symposium, they are proud to present their joint efforts to dismantle systemic barriers and foster a more equitable future.
