Carlos Vergara Sanchez, MD

Dr. Carlos Vergara-Sanchez is a Cardiologist and Echocardiography Fellow at the Mayo Clinic Florida where he is advancing his clinical and academic expertise in cardiovascular medicine with focus on preventive cardiology and multimodality imaging. He completed his Internal Medicine residency at University of Miami/JFK Medical Center and is also completing a post-doctoral master's program on clinical and translational sciences with the Mayo Clinic Center for Clinical and translational sciences. His scholarly work has focused on contemporary issues in cardiovascular prevention and lipidology, including lipoprotein(a) and its role in cardiovascular disease. He has received multiple awards recognizing his commitment to academic excellence, mentorship, and innovation in medical education. Beyond his clinical and research pursuits, Dr. Vergara-Sanchez is actively engaged in national professional societies, including the American College of Cardiology as part of the Prevention of CVD Leadership council and chair of the Florida chapter ACC Fellows in Training Committee, where he contributes to initiatives aimed at fostering leadership development and advancing cardiovascular care. He is also actively engaged in the American Society of Preventive Cardiology where he is currently working on the AJPC Academy in collaboration with the American Journal of Preventive cardiology to foster the next generation of preventive cardiologists.
