Fadi Matar, MD, FACC, FSCAI

I am board certified in Cardiology and interventional cardiology and a fellow of the American College of Cardiology and the Society of Cardiovascular Angiography and Intervention. I have been practicing at USF/Tampa General Hospital for 31 years. My clinical strength and reputation locally, regionally and nationally is supported by my recognition in Tampa Bay Magazine Best Doctors list and Castle Connolly Top Doctors for the past 25+ years.
I am a professor of Medicine and Chief of Cardiology at Morsani College of Medicine, USF. During that time, I was able to help the division grow its faculty and maintain its reputation as a leading clinical and academic service. I have been recently selected to lead the research and innovation center of excellence at TGH Heart and Vascular Institute. I established a state-of-the-art cardiac 3D print lab and I was the recipient of several philanthropic grants totaling 5.5 million dollars. In collaboration with USF Health Heart Institute basic scientists, I established a laboratory with the aim to print stem cell-based 3D printed living cardiac tissue that can be translated into clinically appliable solutions to treat valvular, myocardial and ischemic heart disease.
I served as the TGH cardiac cath lab medical director for the past 13 years. During that time, I helped create a robust coronary and structural heart program and established a state-of-the-art cath lab that propelled this program to become one of leaders in the nation. My interventional team performs complex coronary and advanced structural heart interventions as a quaternary center for the West coast of Florida. Throughout my career I participated in live case demonstration courses at national and international levels.
