Professor of Clinical Medicine & Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology
Clinical Leadership & Expertise Dr. Mitrani serves as a Professor of Clinical Medicine and the Director of Cardiac Electrophysiology (EP) at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine. After earning his medical degree from Columbia University, he completed his specialized Cardiology and EP training at Indiana University. Today, he oversees the Cardiac EP Section and directs the fellowship program at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital.
Specialized Patient Care With over 30 years of experience, Dr. Mitrani specializes in treating simple and complex cardiac arrhythmias, including ventricular tachycardia, supraventricular tachycardia, and syncope. He has a particular interest in atrial fibrillation and flutter, utilizing the latest Pulsed Field Ablation (PFA) technologies. He is also an expert in the implantation and management of pacemakers, defibrillators, and heart monitors.
Research & Academic Impact A dedicated researcher, Dr. Mitrani has served as Principal Investigator for trials exploring stem cell therapy for cardiac function and novel ablation algorithms. He has contributed to landmark NIH-sponsored multicenter studies, including CABANA (catheter ablation vs. drug therapy) and SCD-HeFT (defibrillator efficacy in heart failure).
Legacy in Teaching and Education As Director of the Cardiac EP Fellowship for over 12 years, Dr. Mitrani has mentored dozens of specialists who now provide advanced cardiac care throughout South Florida and across the country. He has presented in multiple national and international meetings in various topics in Cardiac Electrophysiology, arrhythmias, catheter ablation and implantable cardiac electrical devices.
With a career defined by pioneering research, education and three decades of clinical excellence, Dr. Mitrani is dedicated to restoring heart rhythms and training the next generation of cardiac leaders.
