Susana Keeshin, MD, AAHIVS
Susana Williams Keeshin, M.D., is a Med-Peds trained Associate Professor of Pediatrics in the Division of Pediatric Infectious Diseases at the University of Utah School of Medicine, whose career has centered on expanding HIV prevention and treatment for people who inject drugs (PWID) and other marginalized communities. She serves as site principal investigator or co-investigator on multiple phase clinical trials of novel antiretroviral regimens and treatment of hepatitis C in pregnancy and leads a clinic to improve linkage and retention of infant–maternal dyads affected by HIV, HCV, and syphilis. Nationally, Dr. Keeshin holds leadership roles in the HIV Medicine Association and the American Academy of HIV Medicine, contributes to U.S. Department of Health and Human Services perinatal HIV guideline panel, and has authored peer-reviewed articles, policy papers, and book chapters on HIV prevention, perinatal transmission, community harms related to injection drug use, and structural barriers to HIV care.
