Tiffany Bellomo, MD

Dr. Bellomo is a vascular surgery resident at Massachusetts General Hospital. She earned her bachelor's degrees in biochemistry and German before pursuing a postbaccalaureate Intramural Research Training Award (IRTA) fellowship at the National Cancer Institute in Frederick, Maryland.
Dr. Bellomo received her M.D. from the University of Michigan, where she graduated with distinction in Medical Education and was honored with the Dean’s Award for Research Excellence. During medical school, she participated in both the NIH Short-Term Biomedical Research Training Program and the Sarnoff Cardiovascular Research Fellowship, conducting research at the University of Pennsylvania under the mentorship of Dr. Daniel Rader and Dr. Scott Damraur.
She was subsequently awarded the NIH F32 Ruth L. Kirschstein Postdoctoral Fellowship to study the genetic epidemiology of vascular disease and its progression under Dr. Pradeep Natarajan and Dr. Matthew Eagleton. She is currently leveraging large genetic databases to better define the carotid artery disease phenotype, explore polygenic risk scores, and perform multi-trait analysis to identify risk factors for progression to stroke.
Dr. Bellomo has received support for her research from multiple national institutions including: the National Institutes of Health, the Vascular and Endovascular Surgery Society, the Eastern Vascular Society, and the Association for Surgical Education.
