Chinyere Alu, MPH, CPHQ

Chinyere Alu is Chief of the Division of Healthcare Quality and Outcomes at the Illinois Department of Public Health (IDPH), where she leads statewide efforts to improve healthcare performance through measurement, policy, and quality improvement. She has more than 20 years of experience leading public health programs at the state, federal, and global levels in the areas of healthcare quality, patient safety, health data, and systems improvement.
Prior to her current role, she served as Chief of IDPH's Division of Patient Safety and Quality and led the agency's COVID-19 Data Intelligence Unit during the pandemic. She previously directed IDPH's antimicrobial stewardship initiatives, including planning and leading statewide quality improvement collaboratives and coordinating the early Illinois Summits on Antimicrobial Stewardship.
