Mona Khurana, BSc, DC, MD, CCFP(EM), PgDip Dermatology

Dr. Mona Khurana is a board-certified physician and the founder of Shine MD in Vancouver, Canada. She spent the first decade of her career as an emergency physician before discovering a passion for skin and dermatology through her own journey as a patient. As a woman of color who has navigated acne and scarring herself, she brings both medical expertise and personal insight to every patient interaction. That lived experience now shapes her clinical focus—treating acne, acne scarring, and skin of color.
Clinical Focus
At Shine MD, Dr. Khurana provides a full range of aesthetic services alongside medical management of common skin conditions—including injectables, skin lesion removals, and skin tightening. She is highly focused and intentional in treating pigmentation of the face and body.
She developed The Acne Clinic at Shine MD, an integrated care model that combines medical management, energy-based devices, and advanced skincare to treat acne and acne scarring across all skin types.
Her evidence-based, results-driven approach has made Shine MD a destination practice for patients seeking comprehensive medical aesthetics—particularly those with skin of color, who are often underserved by conventional protocols.
Why It Matters
Skin conditions like acne, scarring, and pigmentation are more than cosmetic concerns—they shape confidence, mental health, and life trajectory. Dr. Khurana's personal journey with acne scarring deepened her understanding of that impact and shaped both her practice focus and her philosophy. Her passion for advancing treatment protocols for patients with acne scarring, pigmentation and skin of color has driven her investment in award-winning technologies and multimodal treatment plans. She is emerging as a strong advocate for accessible, individualized, and inclusive dermatologic care that safely raises the standard for overlooked patient populations.
