Thanh Nga Tran, MD PhD

Thanh-Nga Tran, MD, PhD is an Instructor in Dermatology at Harvard Medical School and a dermatologist at Kuchnir Dermatology & Dermatologic Surgery in Massachusetts. She earned a BS in Chemical Engineering from the California Institute of Technology (Caltech) before completing both her MD and PhD through the Harvard-MIT Health Sciences and Technology (HST) Program. She conducted her doctoral research in biomedical engineering and nanotechnology under Dr. Robert Langer at MIT, focusing on innovative drug delivery systems.
Dr. Tran completed the Harvard Combined Dermatology Residency Program, followed by a postdoctoral fellowship with Dr. David Fisher at Massachusetts General Hospital. Her clinical and research interests span laser medicine, procedural dermatology, regenerative therapies, scar remodeling, and translational technologies that bridge engineering and clinical practice. She has been actively involved in clinical trials evaluating novel laser devices and emerging dermatologic therapies.
In addition to her academic and clinical work, Dr. Tran is the founder of the Vietnam Vascular Anomalies Center, a nonprofit organization that has helped provide modern laser treatment to thousands of children with disfiguring vascular birthmarks throughout Vietnam. Her work has been recognized with the Harvard Medical School Dean's Community Service Award for her contributions to global health.
Dr. Tran is passionate about advancing innovation in aesthetic, medical, and procedural dermatology through the integration of laser technology, clinical trials, and patient-centered care.
