Dr. Payette received his B.A. in Biochemistry from Dartmouth College in 2002. In 2008, Dr. Payette earned both his M.D. and M.B.A. from the University of Connecticut School of Medicine, where he continued to complete his dermatology residency in 2012. Prior to co-founding Central Connecticut Dermatology (CCD), Dr. Payette served as Chief Resident, Assistant Professor, and Associate Residency Program Director at the University of Connecticut School of Medicine. 

Dr. Payette is currently a privately practicing dermatologist at Central Connecticut Dermatology as well as Integrated Dermatology, and he is an Associate Clinical Professor of Dermatology at UConn.  Dr. Payette takes care of all ages of patients from newborns to centenarians and practices both medical and surgical dermatology.  Dr. Payette’s specialties include complex medical dermatology, inflammatory skin disorders (especially atopic dermatitis, psoriasis, hidradenitis suppurativa, and urticaria), application of advanced systemic and biologic medications, and diagnosis and treatment of skin cancer.  Dr. Payette also does clinical trials research focusing on new medical therapies for inflammatory dermatologic conditions.  In 2025, Dr. Payette started a dedicated clinic for treating patients with hidradenitis suppurativa as well as 6-month training program for recent PA or NP graduates. 

Dr. Payette has lectured nationally and internationally, served as a reviewer for multiple journals, and has authored book chapters and over 50 peer-reviewed publications.  Dr. Payette has co-authored a medical textbook and has previously served as an associate editor for the Dermatology In-Review, a comprehensive study guide for graduating residents preparing to sit for the American Board of Dermatology exam.
