Melodie Young is a NP at Mindful Dermatology and a partner and investigator at Modern Research Associates, both in Dallas, TX.  She started her career in dermatology as the Director of the Baylor Psoriasis Center where she received a grant to develop the National Psoriasis Tissue Bank, which lead to significant discoveries relating to the genetics of psoriasis. She also started the Dermatology Clinical Trials Unit at Baylor in the mid-1990's and has not participated in hundreds of clinical trials including all of the biologics and systemic agents utilized in medical dermatology. 

Melodie has a long history of volunteerism having served as the first, non-physician on the NPF Medical Advisory Board, was a founding member of the International Psoriasis Council, and recently completed five years of service on the Board of SDNP, including the Presidency.  She has also served as President of the Dermatology Nurses' Association and served on phototherapy, insurance and NP practice committees with the AAD.  She is an internationally recognized expert in inflammatory dermatoses, phototherapy, advanced practice nursing with more than 80 publications in medical and nursing journals.

She received her BSN at William Jewell College in Liberty, MO, and her MSN at The University of Texas at Arlington becoming dual board certified in both geriatrics and adult care.  She was in the first class of NPs to become a DcNP.  She was named the 2023 "America's Top Dermatology NP", was recently awarded the "NPF Women Who Lead Award" as well as The  SDNP Lifetime Achievement Award.  She is an empty nester and shares her time between Dallas and Lubbock, Texas.
