Amy Hessler, Osteopathic physician
Dr. Amy Hessler is a general neurologist in Jacksonville, FL. She has subspecialty expertise in Women’s Neurology, headache medicine and clinical epilepsy. She is currently in a job transition from private practice back to academic medicine.
Dr. Hessler was previously at the University of Kentucky in Lexington, KY where she practiced and served as the clerkship director for 13 years and held several leadership roles within the college of medicine. She moved to Florida in 2021 and joined a solo neurologist in 2023 for 2.5 years in private practice. Her career goal is to develop Women’s Neurology into a subspecialty of neurology which is why she is moving back to academic medicine within the next few months.
Within the leadership space, she was the former AAN Women’s Issues in Neurology (WIN) chair (2014-2016). She now serves as the AAN Sections and Subspecialty Subcommittee (SSS) chair, with her incredible vice chair, Dr. Joyce Lee-Iannoti, and on the AAN Member Engagement Committee. Within AAN leadership, she hopes to one day be elected to the AAN board of directors.
In the social media space, Dr. Hessler is the co-founder of the Women Neurologists Group (WNG) which has grown to 4400 women neurologists over the last 10 years.
