Dr. Maitra is currently Vice President of global Skincare R&D responsible for strategy & development of the global innovation pipeline for SkinMedica and DiamondGlow brands within Allergan Aesthetics. Dr. Maitra joined Allergan Aesthetics in 2019, he has been instrumental in driving new product development & pipeline innovation in several recent launches including Hydracollagen HA5, Even & Correct, Firm & Tone, Neck Correct, and TNS A+. Dr. Maitra is passionate about shaping the future of evidence-based skincare by researching the critical regenerative & protective processes in skin.

Prior to AbbVie, Dr. Maitra held various R&D leadership roles at Johnson & Johnson for over 10 years, leading upstream innovation for global beauty brands such as Aveeno & Neutrogena, and prior to that was a postdoctoral fellow at Colgate Palmolive, working in oral care products. 

Dr. Maitra received his Ph.D. in Polymer Chemistry from Temple University and Executive Leadership certification in Strategy & innovation from Wharton (2014), MIT Sloan School of Business (2016) and Stanford business school (2023).

Dr. Maitra is author of several peer reviewed publications and book chapters and is a named inventor on over 80+ patents and pending applications.
