Cindy Johnston, MD – Managing Partner

Dr. Johnston was born in Colombia and moved to the US at 5yrs old.  She was raised in NJ and received her undergraduate degree from Rutgers, the State University of NJ. Dr. Johnston received early acceptance into the Access Med Program at Rutgers, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School in New Brunswick, NJ. She received her medical degree as well as completed her internal residency training at Robert Wood Johnson. Following her internal residency, Dr. Johnston completed her Rheumatology Fellowship at Albert Einstein College of Medicine in Bronx, NY where she was the Chief Fellow. Before transitioning to Sarasota, Florida, she worked as a Rheumatologist in New Jersey. Dr. Johnston joined the esteemed team at Sarasota Arthritis Centers in 2014, bringing a deep passion for rheumatology. Her dedication to patient care and leadership allowed her to rise to a pivotal role in the practice.

In 2021, Dr. Johnston ascended to the role of Managing Partner, a testament to her leadership abilities and vision for the future of rheumatology care. Under her guidance, Sarasota Arthritis Centers has continued to flourish, providing cutting-edge treatments and compassionate care to patients grappling with a variety of arthritic conditions.

Dr. Johnston's approach to management is characterized by a collaborative spirit and commitment to innovation, striving to be a catalyst for growth. As Managing Partner, she oversees the strategic direction of the practice, mentors the next generation of rheumatologists, and maintains an active role in patient care. 

In addition to her leadership responsibilities, Dr. Johnston serves as a Principal Investigator for the Clinical Research Department, overseeing clinical trials that help advance the field of rheumatology and provide patients access to innovative therapies and emerging treatment options.

Dr. Johnston married her high school sweetheart in 2007 and they have three children. She is fluent in Spanish and enjoys traveling and cherishing her free time with friends and family.
