Dr Bakewell trained at the University of Washington. She practiced in Seattle with Dr. Philip Mease at SRA, simultaneously remaining faculty for UW at the VAMC Puget sound. She has 
been nominated to membership in SPARTAN, PPACMAN, Honoree of the NPF among others, 
and most recently was nominated to the Board of Directors for AWIR and USSONAR. She 
remains active in research (including NIH funded) in the arena of musculoskeletal ultrasound 
and psoriatic disease. She is currently serving as co-lead for the generation of ACR/USSONAR 
Guidance for the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound in Inflammatory Arthritis and continues to 
teach/lecture nationally
