Mia Chandler, MD, MPH
Dr. Mia T. Chandler is a pediatric rheumatologist and Assistant Professor of Pediatrics at Wake
Forest University School of Medicine. She completed her pediatric rheumatology fellowship at
Boston Children’s Hospital and holds a Master of Public Health in Health Policy from the Harvard
T.H. Chan School of Public Health, where she was also a Commonwealth Fund Fellow in Minority
Health Equity.
Dr. Chandler’s research and personal interests focus on understanding how social determinants of
health and health system factors shape outcomes for children with rheumatic diseases, using mixed
methods approaches that integrate electronic health record data, large claims databases, qualitative
research, and stakeholder engagement. Her work aims to advance health equity and improve care
delivery and long-term quality of life for children with chronic conditions.
