Dr. Christopher-Stine is the co-founder and Director of the Johns Hopkins Myositis Cener and Professor of Medicine and Neurology. She is best known for her role in the co-discovery of the anti-HMGCR autoantibody, which helped define a distinct subtype of immune-mediated necrotizing myopathy associated with statin exposure. This work contributed to improved diagnostic clarity for patients who were previously difficult to classify and has informed clinical practice internationally. She also serves as principal investigator of the Johns Hopkins Myositis Research Registry, a longitudinal cohort of more than 3,000 patients that supports ongoing clinical and translational research and has co-authored more than 150 peer-reviewed papers.

She has been recognized for her clinical and academic contributions, including repeated designation as one of America’s Top Doctors by Castle Connolly and receipt of the Arthritis Foundation’s Medical Champion Award. She and her colleagues were also honored with The Myositis Association’s Medical Hero Award. Dr. Christopher-Stine has been invited to serve as a visiting professor and lecturer at multiple national and international institutions.

In addition to her research, Dr. Christopher-Stine is committed to medical education and patient-centered care. She co-chairs an international OMERACT initiative focused on developing patient-reported outcome measures for myositis clinical trials. Her clinical approach emphasizes thoughtful, individualized care for patients living with complex autoimmune disease.
