MASH Management in the Era of Disease-Specific Therapies: Implementing Screen, Stage, Treat Paradigms in Clinical Practice
The management of metabolic dysfunction-associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD) and metabolic dysfunction-associated steatohepatitis (MASH) continues to evolve at a rapid pace. In 2026, major hepatology, endocrinology, and metabolic medicine meetings have produced important new data on noninvasive testing, MASH pharmacotherapy, and real-world treatment outcomes, presenting both opportunities and challenges for clinicians seeking to translate the most current evidence into practice.
In this activity, Drs. Naim Alkhouri, Fernando Bril, and Meena Bansal distill the most clinically relevant mid-year meeting highlights for direct application in practice. Topics include updated evidence on MASH-targeted pharmacotherapy, including thyroid hormone receptor-β (THR-β) agonists and glucagon-like peptide-1 receptor agonists (GLP-1RAs), evolving approaches to noninvasive testing and risk stratification, and real-world insights on treatment integration. Through expert discussion and real-world patient cases, participants will gain practical strategies for applying the latest evidence across hepatology, endocrinology, primary care, and other clinical settings
Target Audience
This initiative is intended for gastroenterology, hepatology, endocrinology, diabetology, and other specialty health care providers involved in the management of patients with MASLD/MASH.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, the learner should be able to:
- Evaluate clinical trial and real-world evidence of metabolic dysfunction–associated steatohepatitis (MASH) treatment options considering MASH resolution, fibrosis, and other clinical and patient-reported outcomes
- Identify best practices for establishing a non-invasive and timely diagnosis of metabolic dysfunction–associated steatotic liver disease (MASLD)/MASH to support access to disease-specific therapy
- Develop guideline-aligned management paradigms for MASLD/MASH that incorporate pharmacotherapy tailored to individual clinical scenarios
Commerical Support
This activity is supported by an educational grant from Madrigal Pharmaceuticals.
