Dr. Jay Gorman is a licensed Clinical Psychologist, Director of Education, and Research Investigator for the VISN 1 Mental Illness Research, Education, and Clinical Center (MIRECC) at the VA Bedford Health Care System. He also serves as Assistant Professor of Psychiatry at Boston University School of Medicine. Dr. Gorman leads the Veteran Outreach Into the Community to Expand Social Support (VOICES) team, focusing on enhancing Veteran social connection, community engagement, and access to care.

Dr. Gorman developed and scaled Veterans Socials, a community-based social intervention designed to foster social connection among Veterans. Since it began scaling in 2022, Veterans Socials has expanded to over 170 community-based groups across 30 states. His current work also includes collaborating, developing, and supporting Veteran connection, substance use treatment, peer support, and community-building. Dr. Gorman is a member of a National Peer Support Services Think Tank and serves on the U.S. Government Social Connection Coordination Interagency Team, where he collaborates across agencies to address national issues related to isolation and loneliness.
