Jason L. Dragoo, MD, is Professor and Vice Chair of Academic Affairs in the Department of Orthopedics at the University of Colorado School of Medicine, where he also serves as the Endowed Chair of Regenerative Medicine. An internationally recognized leader in biologics and regenerative medicine, Dr. Dragoo has helped pioneer procedures that use a patient’s own tissues to promote healing, restore joint function, and reduce the need for more invasive surgeries. He is particularly known for his joint-preservation philosophy, favoring cartilage and meniscal restoration whenever possible.

Dr. Dragoo is the current Chair of the AAOS Committee on Devices, Biologics, and Technology, Chair of the AAOS Orthobiologics Registry Committee, Biologic Association Board of Directors and AANA  2nd Vice President of Presidential Line,. He is widely regarded for his expertise in arthrofibrosis (knee stiffness), cartilage transplantation, and minimally invasive sports medicine procedures. His research has advanced biologics in tissue healing, including PRP, autologous growth factors, cartilage regeneration, second-generation tissue repair methods, advances in the treatment of ACL injuries, osteoarthritis, tendinopathy, and other complex knee disorders.

In addition to his academic and research roles, Dr. Dragoo has extensive experience caring for elite athletes. He previously served as Head Team Physician for Stanford Football and now serves as Head Team Physician for the Denver Nuggets. He also treats collegiate and professional athletes across the country. Despite this high-level experience, he brings the same philosophy and evidence-based care to active patients of all ages.
