Jonathan T. Bravman, MD, is a board-certified orthopaedic surgeon specializing in shoulder surgery and sports medicine, with extensive experience treating athletes and active patients with both common and complex shoulder conditions. He is an Associate Professor of Orthopaedics at the University of Colorado and serves as the Director of Sports Medicine Research in the Department of Orthopaedics.
Dr. Bravman’s clinical expertise encompasses the full spectrum of shoulder care, including rotator cuff injuries, shoulder instability, labral injuries, shoulder arthritis, complex shoulder reconstruction, and primary and revision shoulder replacement. His practice emphasizes an individualized approach to treatment, combining evidence-based medicine with an understanding of each patient’s goals, activity level, and desired return to sport or active living.
With more than a decade of experience caring for high-level athletes, Dr. Bravman has served as a team physician for professional, collegiate, and high school athletes, including the Colorado Avalanche and University of Colorado athletics. His experience treating competitive athletes has provided him with a unique perspective on the demands of returning patients to sport safely and effectively.
Dr. Bravman is also an internationally recognized educator and researcher in shoulder and sports medicine. He is actively involved in clinical research, physician education, and the development of new surgical techniques and instrumentation. His work includes research in shoulder surgery and sports medicine, numerous national and international presentations, and the development of innovative surgical instruments for complex shoulder revision procedures.
He is a member of leading professional organizations including the American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, Arthroscopy Association of North America, and the Herodicus Society.
Dr. Bravman’s philosophy is straightforward: provide patients with expert, thoughtful care while helping them understand their condition and the options available to them. Whether treating an elite athlete, a weekend athlete, or an active individual looking to maintain an independent lifestyle, his goal is to develop a treatment plan that restores function, relieves pain, and helps patients return to the activities that matter most to them.
