Adam Seidl, MD, is a board-certified, fellowship-trained orthopedic surgeon specializing exclusively in the diagnosis and treatment of shoulder conditions. He serves as an Associate Professor of Orthopedic Surgery at the University of Colorado School of Medicine and provides advanced shoulder care to patients throughout Denver, Highlands Ranch, Centennial, Englewood, Aurora and the surrounding Colorado communities.

Dr. Seidl is a high-volume shoulder replacement surgeon who performs more than 300 shoulder replacement procedures each year. His practice includes anatomic total shoulder replacement, reverse shoulder replacement, revision shoulder replacement and the treatment of complex shoulder arthritis, fractures, bone loss and complications from previous surgery.

In addition to shoulder replacement, Dr. Seidl treats the full spectrum of shoulder conditions, including rotator cuff tears, labral tears, shoulder instability and dislocations, biceps tendon injuries, sports-related injuries, fractures and failed previous shoulder surgery. His surgical expertise includes arthroscopic and minimally invasive shoulder surgery, rotator cuff repair and reconstruction, shoulder stabilization, tendon transfers and complex reconstructive procedures.

Dr. Seidl completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Colorado before completing an American Shoulder and Elbow Surgeons–accredited fellowship at the Rothman Institute and Thomas Jefferson University. He subsequently pursued additional international training in Nice, France, with an emphasis on advanced shoulder arthroscopy and shoulder replacement surgery.

He currently serves as Director of the University of Colorado ASES Shoulder and Elbow Fellowship, where he helps train the next generation of shoulder surgeons. He is also Chief of the Orthopedic Service Line at UCHealth Highlands Ranch Hospital and Chairman of the Rocky Mountain Shoulder and Elbow Society Meeting.

Dr. Seidl is actively involved in shoulder research and surgical education. He has authored numerous peer-reviewed scientific publications, presents research at regional, national, and international meetings. He teaches orthopedic residents, fellows and practicing surgeons. His academic interests include shoulder replacement, rotator cuff surgery, and shoulder instability – focusing on surgical outcomes and methods of improving the safety and effectiveness of shoulder care.

His approach begins with an accurate diagnosis and a clear discussion of both nonsurgical and surgical treatment options. Surgery is recommended only when it is likely to provide meaningful improvement. When an operation is appropriate, Dr. Seidl develops an individualized treatment and recovery plan based on the patient’s condition, goals and activity level.

A former collegiate athlete and Colorado native, Dr. Seidl understands the importance of helping patients remain active and return to work, sports, exercise and everyday life. He treats patients ranging from recreational to professional athletes to individuals with advanced arthritis or complex shoulder conditions requiring a second opinion or revision surgery.
