ForwardReimagining Remission: Preparing Rheumatology for Real-World Integration of CAR T-Cell Therapy in Autoimmune Disease
This program will equip rheumatology clinicians with the knowledge and practical frameworks needed to safely and effectively integrate CAR T-cell therapy into patient care, as this transformative treatment expands from oncology into autoimmune disease. Delivered by the Association of Women in Rheumatology (AWIR), the activity includes a 1.5-hour interactive live webinar embedded within AWIR's Virtual Summit on September 26, 2026, supported by satellite watch parties across 60+ AWIR chapters nationwide to foster peer-to-peer engagement, and extended through a 12-month enduring video hosted on myCME to maximize reach and sustainability. By leveraging AWIR's established CME infrastructure and highly engaged rheumatology community, this initiative aims to close critical gaps in candidate identification, data interpretation, and clinical implementation - ensuring that the promise of CAR T-cell therapy translates into safe, equitable, and meaningful outcomes for patients with severe, treatment-resistant rheumatic disease.

US-based rheumatology prescribing clinicians (MDs, DOs, NPs, PAs)
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of the educational activity, participants should be able to:
- Explain the principles of CAR T-cell therapy in severe autoimmune rheumatic diseases, and compare the mechanisms and modalities of new and emerging CAR T-cell therapies.
- Evaluate current and emerging evidence on the safety, efficacy, and durability of response with CAR T-cell therapies under investigation in rheumatic conditions.
- Apply patient factors and disease characteristics to guide eligibility, referral, and treatment selection for CAR T-cell therapy in rheumatic diseases in the future.
- Incorporate interprofessional strategies to optimize real-world adoption, access, administration, management, and long-term follow-up of CAR T-cell therapies for patients with rheumatic diseases.
