The All about Hypersomina Congress will provide a comprehensive update on the diagnosis, management, and emerging science of central disorders of hypersomnolence, including narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia. Bringing together leading sleep specialists, researchers, and multidisciplinary experts, the congress will explore practical clinical strategies, evolving therapeutics, comorbidities, and future innovations—while fostering collaboration, discussion, and networking across the sleep medicine community.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for an audience of physicians including sleep specialists/ sleep medicine doctors, neurologists, sleep technologists, respiratory therapist, nurse practitioners, physician associates and other healthcare providers.
Learning Objectives
Upon successful completion of this activity, participants should be better able to:
- Apply updated diagnostic criteria and systematic clinical assessment frameworks to reduce diagnostic delay in the identification and classification of narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia across practice settings.
- Utilize validated diagnostic tools — including MSLT, PSG, actigraphy, and biomarkers — to differentiate central hypersomnolence disorders from common EDS mimics and to apply established diagnostic criteria accurately.
- Describe the neurobiological mechanisms underlying narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia — including orexin/hypocretin system dysfunction, REM dysregulation, and sleep inertia pathophysiology — and apply this knowledge to clinical reasoning and patient communication.
- Evaluate the clinical presentation and management considerations of hypersomnia in pediatric patients and those with comorbid psychiatric conditions, ADHD, and metabolic disorders, applying an integrated clinical framework.
- Develop structured long-term management plans for patients with narcolepsy and idiopathic hypersomnia, incorporating approved therapeutic options and appraising mechanism-targeted emerging agents — including orexin receptor agonists — for their potential implications in clinical practice.
