Health Care Workers Running on Empty: How do We Refill the Tank?
Working in health care has become increasingly challenging as healthcare professionals face staffing shortages, demanding workloads, occupational stress, and burnout. This session will explore factors contributing to healthcare worker burnout and their impact on professional well-being and patient care. Participants will examine individual and collective strategies—including self-advocacy, workplace advocacy, recognition of professional value, and peer support—that can promote resilience, professional sustainability, and healthier work environments.
Target Audience
This educational activity is designed for an interprofessional audience of healthcare professionals, including registered nurses (RNs), nurse practitioners (NPs), certified registered nurse anesthetists (CRNAs), physician assistants/associates (PAs), pharmacists, registered dietitian nutritionists (RDNs), physical therapists (PTs), occupational therapists (OTs), optometrists, audiologists, acupuncturists, and other healthcare professionals.
