Allison Hilger, PhD, CCC-SLP

Allison Hilger, PhD, CCC-SLP, is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Speech, Language, and Hearing Sciences at the University of Colorado Boulder. A certified speech-language pathologist, Dr. Hilger studies motor speech disorders, with a focus on how neurological disease affects the control and coordination of speech. Much of her work examines ataxic dysarthria in cerebellar disease. She also studies acquired motor speech disorders in children and develops perceptual assessment tools for clinicians.
Dr. Hilger co-developed the Colorado Motor Speech Framework (CMSF), a clinical tool used by a large and growing international community of speech-language pathologists to guide the assessment and differential diagnosis of motor speech disorders. Her research collaborations span engineering, computer science, and otolaryngology, and include foundation-supported work and studies of aerosol generation during speech. She is committed to translating motor speech research into practical tools that help clinicians serve people living with neuromuscular and neurological conditions.
