Treatment Options for Vitiligo: A review of Current and Future Therapies
The recent FDA approval of topical ruxolitinib represents the first therapy specifically indicated for vitiligo and marks a significant shift in the treatment paradigm for this historically underserved autoimmune condition. In parallel, several systemic therapies—including oral JAK inhibitors and novel biologic agents—are progressing through Phase 2 and Phase 3 clinical development. As the therapeutic landscape rapidly expands, dermatology clinicians must strengthen their understanding of vitiligo immunopathogenesis, key immune signaling pathways, and the mechanistic rationale linking targeted therapies to disease biology.
To address these educational needs, this initiative will consist of two live, CME-certified webinars and one podcast episode produced by the Science of Skin Summit. All content will be made available on-demand for 12 months following the live release, extending the educational reach and reinforcing sustained learning outcomes.
This webinar will offer a methodical overview of the phase 2-4 data for Ruxolitinib, and Phase 2 & 3 data
(if available) for povorcitinib, ritlecitinib and upadacitinib. Review mechanisms
of zasocitinib and brepocitinib. Review the efficacy of NBUVB and melanocyte
transfer.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for an audience of physicians, nurses, physician associates, Dermatologists, dermatology residents and fellows, dermatology-focused PAs and NPs.
Learning Objectives
• Interpret clinical trial data for ruxolitinib and emerging systemic therapies.
• Compare efficacy and durability outcomes across studies.
• Assess safety and monitoring considerations for JAK inhibitors and investigational agents.
