Thriving, Special Edition: The Peptide Era in Skin Health, Aesthetics, and Longevity. Separating Evidence from Hype as Peptides Reshape Aesthetic Medicine

November 20, 2026

Aesthetic peptide marketing outpaces clinical evidence, leaving clinicians underprepared to evaluate delivery barriers, true efficacy, and regulatory safety risks. This program equips practitioners to separate proven science from commercial hype and provide safe, evidence-based patient counseling.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for an audience of physicians, physician assistants, nurse practitioners, nurses and other healthcare professionals.

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the educational activity, participants should be able to:

  • Distinguish the major functional classes of topical cosmetic peptides signal, carrier, neurotransmitter-inhibiting, and enzyme-inhibiting and apply the evidence for and limitations of their use in skin care.
  • Evaluate the clinical evidence, delivery challenges, and appropriate role of established cosmetic peptides and critically evaluate oral collagen peptide supplementation with attention to study quality and funding bias.
  • Apply an evidence-based, safety-first approach to injectable and systemic peptides relevant to aesthetics and longevity, including growth factor and exosome-based therapies, GLP-1–associated facial changes, and the safety and regulatory concerns surrounding unregulated “research peptides.”
  • Describe how to counsel patients on peptide-related social-media misinformation, screen for unrealistic expectations, and integrate peptides responsibly across the continuum, including when non-treatment is the best option.

This activity is supported by an medical education grant from AbbVie Inc.
