Implicit Bias

This learning module offers 2.0 hours of continuing education content on implicit bias. Content addresses definitions, historical background, impact in several contexts including healthcare, and strategies to mitigate implicit bias through awareness, acknowledgement, and active resistance.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for an audience of physicians, physician associates, pharmacist and pharmacy technicians, nurses, nurse practitioners and other healthcare professionals.

Learning Objectives

  • Recognize and acknowledge implicit bias using at least three examples.
  • List at least three strategies that can be used to actively resist implicit bias.
  • Explain how implicit bias can affect the interpretation of assessment data, behavior, and response to treatment in a healthcare setting.
