Beverly Hills Body Academy
The Beverly Hills Body Aesthetics (BHBA) Summit is a three-day course in advanced aesthetic and reconstructive body contouring, held November 20–22, 2026. It is for plastic surgeons, and surgeons in training, who perform body contouring procedures. The program uses three teaching formats.
- Live surgery. Co-Chairmen Dr. Alfredo Hoyos and Dr. Ashkan Ghavami operate on both Day 1 and Day 2, with moderated commentary.
- Expert lectures and panel discussions. Faculty present on patient safety, perioperative protocols, mommy makeover, high-definition liposuction and abdominoplasty, gluteal fat grafting (BBL) safety, breast surgery, and contouring after massive weight loss. Sessions also cover the new challenges that GLP-1 receptor agonist weight loss creates.
- Hands-on cadaver dissection lab. This takes place at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, with 12 stations. Two master stations focus on S-Curve® waist definition and on rib remodeling with HD liposuction.
The course focuses on understanding anatomy, preventing complications, and making evidence-informed choices of technique. The goal is for attendees to improve both safety and aesthetic results in their own practices.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for an audience of Plastic Surgeons.
Learning Objectives
Upon completion of this activity, participants should be able to:
- Implement evidence-based preoperative, intraoperative and postoperative protocols that improve patient safety and recovery in body contouring, including drain-free and narcotic-sparing approaches and seroma management.
- Assess risk factors for complications in gluteal fat grafting (BBL), and implement strategies to prevent them, including when BBL is combined with abdominoplasty.
- Compare techniques for abdominal and waist contouring, including high-definition abdominoplasty, reverse abdominoplasty, MIRELA, S-Curve® waist definition and rib remodeling, and determine the most appropriate approach for each patient.
- Evaluate the anatomical and skin-quality changes seen in post-GLP-1 and massive weight loss patients, and apply an algorithm to choose between skin excision, skin tightening and liposuction.
- Develop surgical plans for post-bariatric and extremity procedures, including belt lipectomy, upper body lift and brachioplasty.
- Select appropriate approaches for primary and revision breast surgery in the mommy makeover and weight-loss setting, including implant pocket selection, mastopexy/reduction and internal support.
- Demonstrate understanding of 3D surface and deep anatomy relevant to body contouring through live surgical demonstration and hands-on cadaver dissection.
