Clinical Principles and Practice of Poly-L-Lactic Acid in Facial Aesthetics

The purpose of this activity is to provide licensed medical professionals with advanced knowledge, and the clinical judgment necessary to safely and effectively use Poly-L-Lactic Acid (PLLA) for facial rejuvenation. 

Through evidence-based instruction, participants will learn to assess appropriate candidates, understand the biostimulatory mechanism of PLLA, how to properly prepare PLLA, and recognize PLLA-related complications. The course aims to enhance patient outcomes, reduce complication risks, and support practitioners in integrating PLLA into comprehensive, individualized aesthetic treatment plans that prioritize safety, efficacy, and long-term satisfaction.

 

Target Audience

This course is designed for dentists, nurses, physicians assistants, physicians holding an active and unrestricted license having previously completed an introductory class in dermal fillers and 6 months of injecting experience.

Learning Objectives

  • Explain the mechanism of action and clinical use of PLLA in facial aesthetics.
  • Assess patient suitability for PLLA treatment.
  • Discuss how to prepare PLLA using correct reconstitution and storage techniques.
  • Recognize PLLA-related complications.
  • Discuss treatment expectations and provide appropriate patient education.
  • Perform safe and effective PLLA injection techniques.
