2025 Science of Skin Summit
The skincare industry is booming, with consumers turning to over the counter (OTC) skincare to improve the appearance and health of their skin. It is imperative that medical practitioners are familiar with the scientific evidence, efficacy, and safety of the different products to educate their patients.
Target Audience
This activity is designed for an audience of nurses, physicians, and physician assistants.
Learning Objectives
- Review the science supporting the use of general categories of skincare ingredients and monographed ingredients.
- Identify what skincare products to recommend for different skin types and conditions.
- Describe how to build a product regimen to achieve the goals for a particular patient.
- Compare current and emerging therapies for the management and treatment of various skin conditions including psoriasis, atopic dermatitis, acne, rosacea, hidradenitis suppurativa, vitiligo, and chronic urticaria.
- Evaluate emerging techniques, technologies, and products in aesthetic dermatology, including the latest advancements in injectables, energy-based devices, and integrated skincare and apply evidence-based strategies to safely enhance cosmetic outcomes, optimize patient satisfaction, and individualize treatment plans for diverse patient populations.
- Evaluate current and novel treatment options for hair growth including topical, systemic, procedural, supplements and regenerative therapies to optimize hair and scalp health across diverse patient populations.
- Describe key biological mechanisms of aging including cellular senescence, nutrient sensing dysregulation, the microbiome, and mitochondrial function.
