CME Wellness Retreat for Medical Professionals
Earn CME/CE credits while restoring your energy, deepening your resilience, and reconnecting with the passion that brought you to healthcare. Continuing education will be earned on the yoga mat and in round table conversation giving you evidence-based self-care tools to prevent and recover from burnout. CME/CE credits blend rejuvenating practices such as sound healing, meditation, and breath work with reflection on compassion fatigue, boundaries, and nutrition giving you a collection of practices to use in your personal and professional life.
Target Audience

Learning Objectives
- Demonstrate at least three yoga-based strategies to support emotional regulation during clinical practice
- Perform foundational yoga postures with proper alignment, modifications, and contraindication awareness relevant to common healthcare-related injuries.
- Demonstrate how breathwork can reduce stress, improve focus and concentration, and decrease the effects of burnout.
- Describe three core components of burnout (i.e. emotional exhaustion, depersonalization, reduced accomplishment).
- Identify at least five early warning signs of burnout in themselves and colleagues.
- Describe the Maslach Burnout Inventory and its usefulness to determine the severity of burnout.
- Identify at least three evidence-based benefits of yoga (exercise) relevant to healthcare professionals (i.e. burnout reduction, improved focus, musculoskeletal support).
- Identify which supplements can assist with support of cognitive and emotional functioning.
- Recognize at least three yoga-based strategies to support emotional regulation during clinical practice.
- Integrate mindfulness cues that promote interoceptive awareness and mental quiet during meditation and yoga movement.
- Differentiate burnout from depression, compassion fatigue, and moral injury.
- Explain how the mirror neuron system is related to our experience of burnout.
- Remember appropriate adaptation of poses for limited mobility, fatigue, or injury.
- Demonstrate appropriate prop setup (bolsters, blankets, blocks, etc) to fully support the body in restorative postures.
- Perform yoga movement sequences that support downregulation of the nervous system.
- Identify what boundaries are and why they are important.
- Identify at least three evidence-based boundary-setting strategies that reduce emotional exhaustion and work overload.
- Explain what self-compassion is and why it is related to healing from burnout.
- Explain how breathwork, meditation/mindfulness, and gentle movement can be integrated into daily practice for personal self-care.
- Explain how sound healing can help regulate our nervous system.
- Understand personal stress patterns and occupational risk factors for burnout using yoga-based reflection tools (i.e. meditation and yoga Nidra)
- Apply joint mobility principles - including CARs and gentle range of motion techniques - to support safe movement in clinical and personal settings.
- Demonstrate breathwork patterns which can be used during stressful moments to improve our nervous system regulation and our response to stressful stimuli.
- Describe the concept of a “mini retirement” and distinguish it from vacations, sabbaticals, and traditional time-off models.
- Explain the psychological and physiological rationale for extended breaks as a protective factor against burnout.
