Introduction to Interventional Psychiatry
This course addresses the professional practice gap that we will be educating primary care and mental health providers on Interventional Psychiatry treatments available for patients with treatment-resistant depression. Many of these treatments are new and not mainstream in current education or clinical exposure of providers, and having knowledge of Interventional Psychiatry services will help providers know what interventions are available and what patients are appropriate for these services. Providers can use knowledge learned to refer their patients to appropriate and available psychiatric treatments for patients with treatment-resistant depression. This activity will help increase access to care for patients with treatment-resistant depression by increasing education and awareness of the providers caring for this patient population. These providers are frequently caring for patients with depression and treatment-resistant depression, and this format provides clinicians with knowledge and tools to help connect patients to appropriate and evidence-based mental health care.
