OCD and Autism

This course equips mental health professionals to assess and treat OCD and ASD within their clinical scope using evidence-based, developmentally appropriate behavioral interventions.

Target Audience

This activity is designed for an audience of mental health professionals (psychologists, clinicians)

Learning Objectives

  • Identify overlapping behaviors between ASD and OCD and explain how they may manifest differently depending on developmental and cognitive factors.
  • Differentiate the cognitive, emotional, and behavioral profiles of individuals with OCD versus those with ASD to improve diagnostic accuracy.
  • Apply structured assessment strategies to clarify diagnostic ambiguity in cases with potential comorbid OCD and ASD.
  • Adapt ERP and other behavioral interventions to better align with the communication, sensory, and executive functioning needs of neurodiverse individuals.
  • Evaluate case-based scenarios to formulate individualized, developmentally appropriate treatment plans for clients with co-occurring OCD and autism.
