Psoriatic Diseases and Obesity: Advancing Evidence on Inflammatory Synergies and Novel Treatment Strategies forImproved Patient Outcomes

October 24, 2026

Obesity is reshaping the clinical landscape of psoriatic disease (PsD), driving higher inflammatory and disease burden, accelerating comorbidities, and complicating treatment decisions and outcomes. While emerging GLP-1/GIP-based therapies are poised to transform obesity management, rheumatology clinicians face limited specialty-specific guidanceand a rapidly evolving evidence base. This activity - a 1.5-hour live webinar embedded in AWIR's Virtual Summit (October 24,2026), paired with a 1-year enduring webcast hosted on myCME - delivers rheumatology-specific education on theinflammatory synergies between obesity and PsD, emerging GLP-1/GIP therapies, and evidence-based patient selection andtreatment integration strategies. Delivered through AWIR's chapter network (60+ local chapters across the US) andmyCME's distribution platform, and evaluated via pre/post surveys and live polling, the program is designed to improve clinician knowledge, competence, and clinical performance, ultimately supporting more comprehensive, evidence-drivencare for patients with PsD and obesity.

Target Audience

US-based rheumatology prescribing clinicians (MDs, DOs, NPs, PAs)

Learning Objectives

Upon completion of the educational activity, participants should be able to:

  • Describe the interplay between obesity and psoriatic disease (PsD) including inflammatory mechanisms, diseasesynergies, and real-world clinical burden.
  • Assess new and emerging targeted therapies for obesity based on mechanismsof action, key clinical trial data, indications, and compatibility with PsD treatment.
  • Identify appropriate PsD patients fornovel obesity therapies based on patient characteristics, comorbidities, contraindications, and treatment plans.
  • Incorporate patient-centered weight management strategies into psoriatic disease care plans to improve clinical outcomesand patient health.

Commercial Support

This activity is supported from an independent medical education grant from Lilly.
