Target Audience
This activity is designed for an audience of Physicians, PAs, Pharmacists, and Nurses.
Learning Objectives
- Describe the basic pathophysiology of small intestinal bacterial overgrowth (SIBO) and distinguish it from other common gastrointestinal disorders.
- Identify common symptom patterns and clinical scenarios in which SIBO should be considered in outpatient practice.
- Evaluate appropriate use of breath testing for SIBO, including indications, limitations, and factors that may affect test interpretation.
- Apply practical communication strategies to respond to patient-driven SIBO inquiries and testing requests in a time-limited clinical setting.
